How can I set my own debit card contactless payment limit?

If you want to choose your own contactless payment limit for your Mastercard debit card, below the standard £100 limit, you can now do so in your mobile app.

To choose a different limit, simply;

  1. Open your Mobile Banking app
  2. Tap on the current account linked to your debit card
  3. Choose the option ‘Manage my card & Apple Pay / Google Pay’
  4. Tap ‘Card payment controls’
  5. Tap ‘Contactless payment limit’
  6. Here, you can select which limit you would like. You can choose your own limit between £5 and £100, in £5 increments.
  7. Once you’re happy with your limit and have read though the information, hit ‘Save’ to confirm your new limit.

Please note, if you set your own limit below £100 this limit will also apply to contactless Apple Pay or Google Pay™ transactions.

If you try to make a payment above either the standard contactless payment limit, or above a limit you set yourself in Mobile Banking, that payment will be declined.
