If you’ve spotted a payment on your credit or debit card statement that you don’t recognise, it could be that the retailer or company have a different trading name. Check out our list of common retailer names  to avoid any confusion.

Bank statement codes you might find on your account statement:

  • ATM - Automated teller (cash) machine
  • CHQ – Cheque
  • Charge – Charge for transaction
  • D/D – Direct debit
  • S/O – Standing order
  • TFR – Transfer
  • INT - Interest

The best place to start if you've not received goods or services you've paid for by debit or credit card is by contacting the company you bought them from. But we realise this is not always possible, for example if the company has gone out of business, so you can't resolve the issue with them, maybe we can help you raise a claim.
