Buy to let as an investment
Unlike our Investment products, a buy to let property is a direct investment that you own and manage yourself. We do not provide advice and so you would need to take full responsibility for the risks involved, such as:
- The investment is for the long term...you need to bear in mind things like the up-front purchase and sale costs, in relation to the income and potential void periods. As well as the potentially long timescales to sell and access your investment.
- Demand for property rentals and property prices can also go down as well as up...there may be times when there is no income from the property and you may not realise back your initial investment (deposit normally 25%).
- There are a number of outlays that need to be considered...you will need to make sure the rental will be sufficient to cover your outlays, including unexpected and emergency ones.
