Mobile Banking update for iPhone and iPad app users

On 30th June we released an iOS update for our mobile app. Within this update we have made some improvements to our NatWest app and as a result, all iPhone and iPad users will be asked to confirm their mobile number and enter an activation code to verify themselves.

Open up the Mobile Banking app to check your current or savings account balance and transfer money between accounts. You can even search your transactions back seven years.

If you use an Android, iPhone, BlackBerry 10 or Windows phone, you can view transactions from up to seven years ago on some accounts. This feature is also available on our iPad app.

Payments

Pay your bills and friends

You can make payments to anyone from your list of payees, whose details you have saved within Oline Banking. Just select 'Payments' and scroll through the names to select the correct person, type the amount and click send. The money will leave your account instantly.

Please note that to make payments to your saved payees within the mobile app you will need to make the first payment through Online Banking using your card reader.

Payments are available on Android, iPhone, BlackBerry10 and Windows. This feature is also available on our iPad app.

Now it’s easy for friends to send you money – even if they’re a customer with a different bank.

All you need is Paym. It’s a service that’s available to customers of most of the UK’s leading banks and building societies.

How does it work?

To use Paym, you need to register using the latest version of the Mobile Banking app. Open the app and select Paym from the menu. You’ll find all the registration details there.

Paym is available on most personal accounts and the list of eligible accounts will show during the registration process. When registering you need to select the account in which you wish to receive payments.

After you’ve registered, your friends just need to use their bank’s own mobile app to send you money using Paym. They don’t need to know your account number or sort code. All they need is your name and mobile phone number and they’ll be able to send money to your account.

Paym is available on Android, iPhone, BlackBerry10 and Windows.

Pay Your Contacts

Pay your friends with their mobile number

The app can send money to your friends using their mobile number instantly - even if they’re customers of other banks! Open your Mobile app, click on the ‘Pay Your Contacts’ option, enter their mobile number, the amount you want to pay them and add a personal message.

 

Paying another Natwest mobile app user

If the person you’re paying is a NatWest mobile app user, they’ll receive a text to let them know you have made a payment to them and the money will be in their account instantly.

 

Paying a friend who is registered for Paym

If the person you’re paying is registered for the Paym service, they’ll receive a text to let them know you have made a payment to them and the money will be in their account instantly - even if they are a customer with another bank!

 

Not sure if your friend is registered for either?

If you are not sure if your friend is register for either, don't worry, our Pay Your Contacts service will work out the fastest method for you.

If we can't send the payment via our NatWest app or the Paym service we will send it via Visa Collection. They just need to have a valid UK Visa debit, credit or prepaid card and a UK mobile. We’ll send them a text message to let them know the money is waiting, and a link to click. Separately, you will have to let them know how much you've sent them. When they follow the link in the message, enter their Visa card number and the amount they’re expecting from you, we’ll deposit the money in their account within 3 days.

Once we’ve notified your contact, they have seven days to collect a payment. And we’ll send you a text message when they’ve collected the payment and your balance has been debited.

Some important information

Pay Your Contacts lets you send maximum payment of £250 a working day, which is separate from daily withdrawal and Get Cash limits, to someone aged 16 and over with a UK mobile number and

  • a NatWest Mobile Banking app
  • or registered for Paym with their own bank
  • or a valid UK Visa debit, credit or prepaid card. 

Pay Your Contacts is available for NatWest customers on Android, iPhone, BlackBerry10 and Windows.

Touch ID

Log in using your fingerprint

A quick and convenient way to login to your app using your the fingerprint you registered under Touch ID. This option is available to iPhone 5S, 6 and 6 Plus users with an iOS8 or higher operating system. Simply login once you’ve updated the app and go to the ‘More Menu’ to enable this option.

How to register

Get Cash

Get cash without your debit card

We love Get Cash, our award-winning feature that lets you withdraw money without using your bank card. We think you will, too. It’s perfect for those times when you need small amounts of cash but don’t have your wallet or purse to hand. Get Cash is another way our Mobile app makes your everyday banking easier.

How does it work?

With Get Cash you can quickly choose an amount of cash that you would like to withdraw from within the app. We will then provide you with a secure cash code that will be valid for 3 hours and can be used at any NatWest, RBS or Tesco cash machine to withdraw your cash. You can use this cash code yourself or text it to someone else. You can use this service up to twice a day, but can only have one cash code at any one time. If the code expires, the funds will re-credit your account within 24 hours.

To use this service:

  • Get Cash allows a maximum withdrawal limit of £250 per working day and this must be within the daily withdrawal limit for your debit card.
  • There is a maximum limit of 2 Get Cash withdrawals per day.
  • You must have at least £10 available funds to withdraw from your account (including any overdraft facility).
  • We must have your correct mobile number in our records.
  • You must have have an active debit card for your account.

Get Cash is available on Android, iPhone, BlackBerry10 and Windows.

To use the mobile app, you need to be set up for NatWest Online Banking. When you sign up for this, you will get a customer number which is your date of birth (DDMMYY) followed by 4 digits.
