Step 1 - Tips to help with your application

Are you switching banks?

Make sure you have your sort code and account number of the bank you would like to switch from on hand.

Do you want to change your existing NatWest account to a Reward Silver account?

If you wish to change your existing NatWest account and keep all of your details, such as account number and sort code, please use one of the following links.

Information to have ready for your application

  • Your monthly income after tax.
  • If you think your monthly income will reduce in the next two years, please be prepared to share with us what this will change to.
  • Your monthly outgoings (for example your rent or mortgage payments).
  • Your full address for the past 3 years. Remember to enter your postcode without a space.
  • Please remember the name of the account you are applying for. During the application form, we may suggest other current accounts that might be suitable for you, it is your choice to continue with your current application or to take out a different product.

How to submit ID documents online rather than in branch

To help open your account straight away, by law we need to check your details to confirm your identity. You can provide your ID online if you provide us with your mobile number.

You can upload a valid passport, UK driving licence or an EU ID card using our DigiDocs service. This allows you to submit your ID anytime, anywhere and on any device.

If you would prefer not to provide your mobile number, that's ok, but you might need to visit a branch to supply your ID instead.

How to set up a joint account

You can apply for both a sole or joint account using this application form.

If you would like to open a joint account just remember that you will need the details of both people who are looking to open a joint account.

You may also be asked to pop into branch to show your documents, if this is the case then please remember that both people will need to be there so we can verify your identity.

How to follow up your application

Remember to take note of the reference number that you will receive at the end of your application form.
