Worldwide travel insurance that covers you and your family for trips of up to 31 days. The policy also includes winter sports and £10 million medical expenses cover.

What you should know:

  • Family cover includes you and your partner, plus any dependent children under age 18 at the start of the journey, (under 23 if they’re in full-time education). Children must be living at the home address (or with the other parent), and be neither married or in a Civil Partnership
  • Your partner is the person you, the account holder, live with at the same home address in a relationship, whether married or cohabiting
  • To include an additional party on your policy, or if you have a medical condition, please call 0345 609 0453 ( or Minicom number 03456 000 512) to confirm your premiums and cover. Lines are open 8am-8pm Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm Saturday, 10am-5pm Sunday and 9am to 5pm on bank holidays. We are closed on Christmas Day,Boxing Day, New Year's Day and Easter Sunday. Calls maybe recorded.
  • If anyone covered by the policy is aged 70 or over, there’s a £50 annual premium per person insured aged 70 or over
  • If you have an existing medical condition, you may have to pay an additional premium or accept that your cover may exclude certain conditions.

What are Rewards?

They're simple

You automatically earn Rewards on seven selected household bills paid by Direct Debit and on purchases at partner retailers. 5.00 in Rewards = £5.00.

 

They could grow quickly

There's no limit to the Rewards you can earn. On average, currently our customers earn £120 per year in Rewards, based on average monthly Direct Debits of £333 (£4,000 per year) and excluding the monthly fee.

 

They're easy to exchange

As soon as your available Rewards balance is the equivalent of £5 or more, you can convert your Rewards to money, which you can either transfer into your NatWest current account or use towards reducing your Reward credit card balance.

 

Rewards can also be exchanged for gift cards or codes at selected retailers or converted to money and donated to participating charities.

How do I earn Rewards?

3% back in Rewards on seven household bills

You will earn Rewards on the following bills when you pay by Direct Debit from your Reward bank account; Council Tax, mobile, landline, TV package, gas, electricity and broadband.

 

Payments to billing organisations but which are for other services such as maintenance, repairs or insurance will not earn Rewards.   

 

At least 1% back in Rewards at partner retailers

After you've opened your account, you'll receive personalised retailer offers where you can earn extra Rewards when you use your RBS debit card. To view your personalised offers, exchange any Rewards and to check your Rewards balance, you will need to register on the MyRewards site.

How do I exchange Rewards?

As soon as your available Rewards balance is the equivalent of £5 or more, you can login to MyRewards to exchange them. To login you will need to register, using your debit card. You can then choose from the following.

 

 

Bank it

Convert your Rewards into money. You can then transfer the money into your RBS bank account or use towards reducing your Reward credit card balance. The funds will be cleared in your chosen account within 5 working days.

 

Trade up

Exchange your Rewards for gift cards or codes at our selected partner retailers.

 

Donate

Convert your Rewards into money, which can be donated to one of our chosen charities.

Get cash without your bank card

Our mobile app lets you withdraw money (up to £130 of your money per day) from RBS, NatWest or Tesco cash machines.

Get Cash is a function on our Mobile Banking app that lets you withdraw money quickly without using your bank card. It's great for those times, when you pop out during your lunch hour, but don't have cash on you.

Pay your contacts with our mobile app

Pay Your Contacts lets you send money to someone with a UK mobile number who has a NatWest, RBS, Ulster Bank, NatWest Offshore, Isle of Man mobile app or registered for Paym.

If the person you’re paying is a NatWest, RBS, Ulster Bank, NatWest Offshore or Isle of Man Bank Mobile app user, they’ll receive a text and the money will be in their account instantly.
 

If the person you are paying does not have the Mobile app then we can send the payment via the Paym service. This is a service that is available to customers of most of the UK's leading banks and building societies. If your friend is registered for Paym with their own bank then the money will be in their account instantly.
 

You must have available funds to send from your account (including any overdraft facility). There is a maximum payment of £250 a day, which is separate from daily withdrawal and Get Cash limits.

Opening an account or switching to NatWest

What you need when opening an account

Opening a new current account with us is easy. Find out what documents you need when applying for an account.

If you're applying online, try and have a UK Passport or Driving licence to hand along with a working credit or debit card.

If you don't have these, don't worry. You can still apply online and we will ask you to provide other forms of ID and proof of address that we can accept.

It's easy to switch to us

Switching bank accounts from one UK bank or building society to another is simple with the Current Account Switch Service. It takes just 7 working days.

On your switch date, your payments, such as Direct Debits, Standing Orders and Bill Payments, will transfer to your new account. Any credit balance from your old account will have been transferred, your new account will be ready to use and your old account will be closed, if you wish.

Overdrafts with the Reward Platinum Account Remember to arrange an overdraft facility if you need it

£250 interest free threshold

During the account application process, you will need to indicate that you require an Overdraft of at least £250 for the interest free threshold to be applied to your account.

If you need to borrow more than this, you can apply for up to the amount we show you during the application process. Alternatively, you can review your facility after your account has been opened and apply for an Overdraft separately (subject to approval).

Fees and charges

If you spend more than your interest free threshold and you have an arranged overdraft facility, you will be charged a £6 Arranged Overdraft usage fee and interest on that amount.

If you spend more than the interest free threshold and you haven't been approved for an arranged overdraft, or if you spend more than your arranged limit, you will be charged unarranged overdraft usage fees of £6 a day, up to 15 days in every charging period.
